The Dove is a simple feathery soul who finds pleasure in all things peaceful but who also questions social injustice. She is not a flock bird, she happily flies alone, looking, feeling, thinking and learning about how we can gently live together on this planet.

But she also enjoys the company of kindred spirits ! I have been fortunate to discover others who share my views on peaceful living, environmental care and treading gently on our planet.

For me, the concept of May Peace Prevail is not necessarily a religious one, but more of a mantra for daily life – an affirmation of living in a peaceful way.

Now, more than ever is the time for us all, together, to learn and adopt the ways of peace, cooperation, compassion, forgiveness and understanding. We must be the peace we seek — in our hearts, in our homes, in our relationships and in our communities.

In the words of Gandhi, “You must be the change you wish to see in the world.”

A peaceful perspective also recognizes how interconnected we all are, and how our very survival as a species is now being threatened. Therefore, living peacefully is not just something you ‘do’ on Sundays, it is a way of living -  healthy, sustainable and conscious life choices in all things. Everything is connected and everything matters. What goes around, comes around. We need to understand that what harms you, harms me. What threatens the planet, endangers me.  We need to accept the effect and consequences brought about by our thoughts and actions, or by our lack of thought and inaction.

If there is character in the individual,
There will be harmony in the home;
If there is harmony in the home,
There will be honor among the people,
If there is honor among the people,
There will be justice in the community;
If there is justice in the community,
There will be order in the nation.
If there is order in the nation,
Then there will be peace in the world!
